Arrowhead Recreation
If
you wish to experience Mother Nature, The Lake Arrowhead Communities
are for you. There are countless ways to enjoy the fresh air,
pristine forests, and natural wonders located in this one-of-a-kind
location in Southern California.
There
are many camps and campgrounds in the area with the Lake Arrowhead
Communities being the base for recreation activity in the San
Bernardino National Forest. There are numerous hiking trails in
the area with the Pacific Crest Trail passing within a few miles
of the Lake Arrowhead Communities. There are also three Picnic
Areas with BBQs, restrooms, and spectacular views of the valley
below.
Water
sports are available throughout the summer and early fall. As
Lake Arrowhead is a private lake owned by the homeowners of Arrowhead
Woods, visitors who are not guests of property owners have very
limited use of the lake*. Nearby Lake Gregory is a public, County
Park with swimming, boating, fishing, and a giant water slide.
Stream
fishing, off road vehicle areas, mountain biking, and equestrian
trails are nearby and great snow skiing and cross country skiing
are only 25 minutes away. Wildhaven Rehabilitation Center &
Sanctuary, Strawberry Peak Fire Lookout, and Mountain Skies Astronomical
Society add to the “things to see and do” list while
visiting the area.
Within
the communities there is also a private yacht club, private country
club with an 18-hole golf course, tennis courts and swimming pool,
and a four-screen movie theater.
The
Rim of the World Parks and Recreation District sponsors youth
and adult sports leagues as well as a variety of other programs.
Organized youth sports available in the area include Little League
Baseball, Pop Warner Football and AYSO. For seniors, there is
a very active Senior Center in the Twin Peaks area.
*Visitors
to the area can access Lake Arrowhead by boat on the Arrowhead
Queen Boat Tour, by water ski through the McKenzie Water Ski School,
